Are you one of those people who check the smartphone camera
whenever you unbox your phone well if yes this article is for you! Smartphones
are getting smarter day by day and the manufacturers are trying to give the
customer the best that they can offer. One of the most loved features of a
smartphone is its camera as it just not to capture the images memories.
Today I am going over the 4
best smartphone cameras of 2018
#1
Apple iPhone X
Apple has always been known for
innovation Apple introduced the first finger scan ID and in its iPhone 7 it
introduced the dual camera setup after which everybody has adapted the same.
Apple always pushes its performance with the new product it introduced to the
public and in its latest iPhone X Apple has paid more attention on the camera feature
which have just pushed the boundaries of what you can do with the camera features
of the smartphone.
The iPhone X has a dual camera setup with a vertical
orientation at the back it has a 12 megapixel primary Shooter with a 28 mm lens
and f/1.8 aperture and the secondary telephoto lens which is also 12 megapixel
Shooter with 56 mm lens and f /2.4 aperture which allows you 2x optical zoom.
Both of the camera has optical image stabilization (OIS) and performed very
well in the natural daylight condition. The camera supports portrait mode for both the front facing
and the back facing camera and it captures some amazing portrait photos.
The iPhone X is can capture a 4K video at 24, 30 and 60 Fps and a
1080p video at 240 Fps. iPhone X can capture some amazingly beautiful 240 Fps
slow mo videos at 1080p resolution. For those who love selfie iPhone X has a 7
megapixel front facing camera of f 2.2 aperture front facing camera which just does
wonders in capturing the selfies. The iPhone X camera performs very good in a
day light and a natural condition but its struggles a bit when it comes to low
light conditions it has a bit of noise and lacks stability when you shoot a
video in 1080 or 720p in a low light conditions.
The iPhone X is the only phone
in this list which gives an option of portrait Studio lightning which
can do wonders with your pictures. One of the most annoying thing about the iPhone camera is that if you want to
change the resolution of the video you have to go to the settings and change
the camera settings every time
#2
Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus
When Samsung claimed that they have re-imagined the camera in the
Samsung Galaxy S9 series they were not lying, one of the cameras which is
having most of the features in this list is the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. The S9
plus has a dual camera setup vertically oriented above the fingerprint scanner,
it has a primary 12 megapixel Shooter with A 26 MM lens and have which has a variable aperture which ranges from f/1.5
to f/2.4 aperture this is where the camera re-imagined thing does its magic. S9
Plus is able to capture some amazing low light photography shots as it adapts its
aperture with the light. The secondary telephoto lens is a 12 megapixel 52.mm
lens with aperture of f/2.5 which provides optical zoom and does not affect the
clarity when you captures the picture in zoom. It also supports portrait mode
and take some amazing portrait pictures. Both the cameras are optical image
stabilized which means you will not face any problem while of stability while
recording a video.
S9 Plus can capture 4K video at 30 and 60 Fps, 1080p videos
at 3060 and 240 Fps and 720p at 30 and a staggering 960 Fps which gives it the
crown for the super slow motion video
capturing smartphone, the videos captured at the 960 Fps are simply beautiful
but it is very difficult to capture of clear super slow mo video as it gets blurry
while capturing the 960 Fps video for best results use a tripod also and the super slow motion feature is not given by any of
the smartphones listed in this list also what I like about Galaxy S9 Plus is
that it gives all the feature in the camera app only unlike iPhone, so you
don't have to go to the camera settings and adjust your resolutions again and
again.
The front facing camera is an 8
megapixel shooter with f/1.7 aperture which supports the Portrait mode and if
you are taking close up images I would suggest you to switch to the light focus
mode for better image quality and low noise.
#3
Google pixel 2
We all know that the pixel has
been the best shooter in the smart phone Industries from its launch itself and
the pixel 2 just got better the pixel 2 does not have a dual camera setup it
just has a single lens and a single camera but all the magic is done in the software,
it process the images so good that it beats most of the phones in the list.
The pixel 2 comes with a only
12.2 megapixel camera with aperture of f/1.8 and it has both optical image
stabilization and electrical image stabilization which makes the video more
stable while shooting. With the pixel 2 you can capture slow mo videos at 30 fps;
the front facing camera is an 8 megapixel shooter with the aperture of 2.4.
Even though the pixel 2 does
not have a dual camera setup the software
is where it turns the table you will find the best HDR quality on the pixel, the
colors are very cooler and come out in a very vibrant way which is very eye pleasing
it has a good white balance but sometime it exaggerate the natural colors and can spoil you images it does not
have a dual camera setup which doesn't mean that it cannot support portrait
mode. The pixel 2 gives you the option of portrait mode but it processes image
with the help of the software and trust me these are one of the best portrait images you will find on any
smartphone in the market where the pixel 2 beats even the dual camera setup
phones like iPhone x. The things where the pixel 2 lacks is the Panorama which is the worst on pixel 2 out of any
smartphone I've ever seen, it also lacks stabilization in selfie videos the
rear camera has a good image stabilization though, but when you are in a low
light conditions things can get a bit tacky also the video shot on the pixel 2
and iPhone x have the worst audio
out of any smartphone in the market.

Oneplus 6
Oneplus has recently launched
its new oneplus 6 and it is making
headlines it is one of the fastest phone you can find in the market now, and it
is a flagship phone with the best price in the market.
The oneplus 6 comes with the
vertically oriented set up where the fingerprint scanner is placed below the
cameras oneplus 6 has a dual camera setup which has the primary 16 megapixel with f/1.7 aperture 1.2mm pixel Sony IMX519 sensor and secondary 20
megapixel with f/1.7 aperture Sony IMX98, the primary 16 megapixel camera
has optical image stabilization and EIS, they don't say that for the secondary 20 megapixel camera so I'll just assume
they don't have it. This might feel that one plus has the same camera setup as
the oneplus 5t but trust me the lens which oneplus has used this time in the oneplus
6 at totally different from the oneplus 5t it is a wider lens and it is 19% wider than that of the iPhone X
which allows it to pull more light in to make your pictures more bright and
more clear in low light conditions, this has really helped oneplus and trust me
out of the list the oneplus 6 has the best
low lights picture quality in daylight it capture some amazing photos but the
magic happens at night when the new improved lens pulls and more light and beats
all of the above smartphones in low light photography.
Yes it does support portrait mode and it capture some
decent portrait pictures which does not over exposed the colors and don't give
much noise in the photographs. Oneplus has promised that they will bring the Portrait mode for the front facing
camera in the upcoming software
updates. If you compare the images of all the above smartphone with the oneplus
6 you will find that the oneplus 6 low light images are the best even when you
zoom and they don’t lose accuracy the color and the details everything is hold
up very perfectly which makes it the best phone for a low light photography.
Oneplus 6 can capture 4K video
at 60 and 30 Fps, 1080p videos at 60fps and 720p videos at 30fps, 60fps and 480 Fps the 480 Fps is termed as a super slow mo video but it is not as
good as the Samsung Galaxy S9 as it captures at a staggering rate of 960 Fps.
All the above phones support a manual mode where you can adjust the aperture the white balance the auto focus
and everything according to your preference in some of the phones it is known
as a pro mode and you can always play with the settings of the camera and
captures the pictures as you like.
Which Smartphone camera you find
the best? Let me know in the comments.
